Starting anything new can be tough, whether that’s the blank pages of a new novel we are writing, or the huge task we had in launching MyVLF.com. The hard work is all worthwhile though when you receive feedback from users, and we have been overwhelmed by the amazing response to our virtual literary festival site. To cap it all, we received news that we have been nominated and are finalists in the Digital Book World Awards – just four months after we launched. Thank you to all of you who have supported us and for those who nominated us.
Digital Book World
Digital Book World is a huge conference in Tennessee, where publishers and authors gather to hear the latest trends in digital publishing. The list of attendees and exhibitors is like a Who’s Who of the industry. We are incredibly honoured to be finalists in the ‘Best Publishing Technology’ category. We share the honour with some tremendous competition for the award, including Amazon.
We would love to be able to attend the exhibition and award ceremony, but unfortunately the cost is too prohibitive for us. We live on a small island just off the coast of France and the conference is in Tennessee, USA. We wish everyone a great conference and best of luck in the awards.
Virtual event versus real event
There is no doubt that attending live events in person is not only inspirational, but also great for networking, but the time and financial constraints, as well as sometimes the physical ones, that so many of us face in attending these conferences and festivals, is one of the main reasons we set up MyVLF.
We wanted MyVLF to be a global meeting place for authors and readers, somewhere that isn’t affiliated to any one publisher or retailer and where readers can ‘meet’ their favourite authors and find their next great read. Critically we wanted it to be accessible to as many people as possible which is why it is totally FREE. Sign up at myvlf.com/register
Enjoy Digital Book World if you are lucky to be able to attend.
