About Peter James

Crime writer, Peter James is one of our June 2019 festival headline authors. He has sold over 19 million copies of his books around the world and won 40 awards for his work, including from British retailer, WHSmith, the Best Crime Author of All Time award. Peter’s most well known series features Detective Superintendent Roy Grace and the latest in the series, ‘Dead at First Sight’, is going to be the subject of Peter’s interview.

Dead at First Sight was published on May 16th and went straight to No 1 where it remained for two weeks. You can order your copy on Amazon, iBooks and Kobo.

With is books translated into 37 languages, Peter really is a global bestseller. He started his career working in film and television, before publishing his first novel, Dead Letter Drop in 1981.

Four of his stories have been adapted into stage plays, including The House on Cold Hill in 2019.

In 2017, Peter became the first recipient of  the Rheinbach Glass Dagger Award in acknowledgement of merits for crime fiction. He also won the CWA Diamond Dagger Award in 2016.

Peter also has a link to one of our other June headline writers, Tess Gerritsen. He won the ‘Dead Good Readers Tess Gerritsen Award for Best Series, in 2016, for his Roy Grace series.
